saturday, after a long day in houston, we returned home and bathed karsyn.  as i always do, i took my wedding ring and another ring i wear every day off and set them somewhere.  that night, my favorite man and i rearranged things in our house.  the next day, i couldn’t find my rings.  holy cow.  where could they be?  i searched everywhere, trying frantically to think of where i could have set them.  i worried all day.

monday, found me searching yet again.  and again, no luck.  everywhere i normally set them when i take them off was empty.  no rings.  my heart was beating so fast.  what in the world happened to my rings? 

when my favorite man returned home from work, he searched high and low.  no luck.  after we put karsyn to bed monday night, we searched again.  the trash man comes on tuesday morning, so i told my hubby that i wanted to dig through the trash just in case.  i guess i thought it would put my mind at ease knowing that they really weren’t in there since i searched. 

i took a deep breathe and dove right in.  at least it was my own trash right?  at least there were going to be no surprises because i threw it all away.  not right.  after digging through the majority of the trash, piece by piece, smell by smell, two bags of dirty diapers later …

 I FOUND MY RINGS.  seriously, how did they get in there?  a trip to james avery and zales today … spic and span, nice and shiny rings once again.  whew.  my heart can beat normal again.

speaking of … whatdya think of this picture?  isn’t it awesome.  i took it, but my sweet friend AW fixed it up for me.  i LOVE it.

so, TWO times now i have taken our “good junk” to good will. now, i’ve been to good will several times and know what kind of “junk” they actually sale to people there, so i just knew that my stuff would make them some good money. if i think it’s trash, i don’t bother giving it to anyone. i throw it out. so the stuff i actually try to take somewhere is usually really good. well …

WHAT?!?!?!?! un-stinkin’-believeable!
how could they reject anything? it was good stuff too. this past time it was a TV. the lady kindly said “you could take that to salvation army, but we won’t take it.”

i sure felt like the scum of the earth. white trash, if you will. good will wouldn’t take my junk. i’m so sad.

so, from now on, it’s good riddance to good will and hello twin city missions. they DO take anything from anyone.

now, onto something that makes me happy.
today i bravely took my almost ONE year old out by myself to two different parks in town to try to snap just ONE really cute picture for her invitations which should have been mailed out already. here are a few of the shots i got.

first of all, my bedroom is back to normal. the vomit smell is gone. the NEW sheets are on. the comforter is clean. did i mention that the vomit smell is gone? my favorite man is back to normal too, as is karsyn who had a bit of a tummy bug as well.

thanksgiving found us at my parents house for several days. it was quite relaxing, but still took a week to recover from. why is that? i always seem to need a vacation from my vacation. we had thanksgiving lunch at my grandparents house with 44 other people. thankful for a big family. not so thankful for the cold weather forcing everyone to be inside the whole time.

and, the biggest news of all, KARSYN IS WALKING! she took her first steps on november 17th. that means she was a few days shy of being 11 months old. it started out as one step, then three, then four, and now she’s everywhere. it all happened so fast. i’d have to say that crawling is still her favorite means of getting from place to place. i’ll try to get some video up here of her waddling around. i haven’t been so lucky yet.

this past week, karsyn and i ventured to sue haswell park with our neighbors. the city of bryan was having their Christmas lighting thingy (whatever they called it). there was hot chocolate, cookies, games, santa, snow (from a machine), and tons of other things. it was fun (for everyone who had kids old enough to participate). karsyn did enjoy the cookies and somehow managed to open a candy cane.

today, we went with our neighbors to the bryan holiday parade. that’s all i have to say about that. no … wait. what is the point of a parade? i thought about that as we drove away from the crowded streets. it was fun to watch the kids react to each float and to tell us what they saw, even though we were sitting right behind them. and, who knew that in december, you’d get sunburned from a CHRISTMAS PARADE? only in texas.

looks like travel plans for today will be postponed. we’ll wait to see how the day goes. our luck … i’ll get it tonight. pray for us! plan b is to travel to san antonio tomorrow morning for a wonderful, healthy, vomit-free thanksgiving with our families.

for the love of all things, i wish i was making this up. where do i begin? yes, it is 1:12am and i am blogging. why in the world am i even awake? i’m always in bed AND asleep by 10:30 without fail. wait, it’s not even karsyn’s fault this time. oh please, let me explain.

my evening began just like this … please, go there with me …

after an afternoon at a friends house, karsyn and i made our way to my favorite man’s classroom to help him get organized. karsyn has had “very loose stools” now for a few days and it continued as we walked into the school doors. from there, we went to their basketball game, then to wal-mart to get hubby some medicine because he said he felt funny. his tummy was a little queasy, but probably just from not eating much today. he also had the sniffles. my assumption was that he was just tired and hungry. (you know how men can be when they don’t feel well)

we got home. karsyn had another nasty diaper. as i’m changing her, she pukes all over me. ok, she spit up for almost 9 months and this was no where near that. i would say that i kind of enjoyed the spit up A WHOLE LOT MORE than the vomit. we showered. all clean.

jump ahead a few hours to about MIDNIGHT. hubby and i are enjoying a nice night of sleep. karsyn has been “sleeping like a baby” (no pun intended) for a few weeks now. it’s been HEAVENLY (angels singing in background). i was awaken by this … hubby sat straight up in bed and puked EVERYWHERE. when i say EVERYWHERE, i mean EVERYWHERE. all over me. all over the bed. all over our comforter. all over the curtains, the wall, the floor, himself. “OH MY GOSH!” “OH CRAP!” were a few of my reactions. i just laid there. puke all over the sheet that was on top of me. i slowly, calmly turned on my lamp to reveal the scene. be glad these things don’t have sniffometers. i gently got up. turned on the shower. washed off real quick. let hubby wash off.

then i did what any good wife would do. i called his mother. i jokingly, but i think almost seriously, hinted that she should come clean it. for goodness sake, she cleaned up his puke for 20 years before. can’t she drive from austin at midnight to come clean up her sons mess NOW. didn’t work.

hubby volunteered to clean it as i took one whiff and gagged. and gagged. and gagged. i kept myself from puking all over his puke that already covered our once serene bedroom.

oh. the smell is still lingering as i’m going to attempt to enjoy the rest of the night from the couch. i think i sprayed a whole can of lysol already and the smell is still lingering. the sheets and curtains (all wal-mart cheap) went to visit the big, plastic thing outside. the comforter is in the washer and will go visit the cleaners later today. my body pillow that i snuggle with each night will be replaced.

karsyn will be 11 months old this week. here’s 11 pictures of her from this past month. she’s so much fun, but gets into absolutely everything, climbs on everything, eats well, and has such a cute personality. she’s not going to be shy, that’s for sure. she took her first steps this past saturday too!

david has now started what he has dreamed of … his first season as a basketball coach. he’s the 7th grade coach and absolutely loves it so far. after an undefeated football season, they just won their first basketball game last week. already off to a great start!

crazy #1 – karsyn is ONE month away from turning ONE. we’re throwing her a “winter ONE-derland” birthday.

crazy #2 – the bathrooms at my favorite place where the red shirted, khaki bottomed people lurk smell unusually refreshing for a public restroom. seriously. take a whiff.

crazy #3 – my doctor told me today to use honey to get rid of blemishes. again, seriously. he said he uses it in the office to heal people where they’ve been all stitched up. guess i’ll go to bed smelling sweet now. guess if i get a sweet tooth, i can just take one swipe of the finger to the side of my face.
ok, moving right along …

crazy #4 – (short story) a family friend of ours is in the middle of a career change right now, about to become a chaplain for the military. he’s in virginia studying, along with probably 40 others wanting to do the same thing. president bush came for a visit not too long ago and asked to speak to 6 of the chaplains. our friend was one of the chosen. our president asked them to pray for our country, our troops, and for himself. right then and there, they knelt down around him, laid their hands upon him, and prayed with him. they prayed with OUR president to OUR God. now that’s one story that won’t make the news.
